The imported food team is based in Cargo Village at Heathrow and is located in offices on the 1st floor of building 550 ( WFS Shed) in Shoreham Road East Heathrow. The officers are at the heart of all imports in the cargo area of Heathrow Airport, and all adminstrative functions and data bases are controlled from this office.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Imported Food Team at London Heathrow Airport. As an Administrative Officer you will be responsible for assisting the team of Environmental Health Officers, Food Safety Officers, Technical Officers and Official Veterinarians in providing an effective and efficient service on behalf of the London Borough of Hillingdon in respect of imported food functions at Heathrow Airport's Border Control Post.
What will an Imported Food Administrative Officer do?
The main duties of the role include:
- providing clerical and administrative support
- inputting consignment details
- processing payments and invoicing information
- providing first class customer service to service users
- effectively managing large amounts of data, input data into internal database systems and carry out general internal database maintenance e.g. modifying tables, queries and reports
About you
We are looking for an experienced individual who provides excellent customer care and has exceptional communication skills. It is essential that you can demonstrate the following experience:
- experience of supporting a multi-disciplinary team with comprehensive technical administration services (including database/system administration)
- experience of prioritising high volumes of work effectively and accurately, and to deal with routine matters on own initiative within deadlines
- experience of working under competing pressures
- experience of providing excellent quality customer service.
- experience of developing and maintaining good working relationships with clients and working as part of a team.
Whilst not essential, having experience of working in a port health setting will be advantageous.
It goes without saying you will have solid MS office skills, particularly excel and word and be adept in the use of MS outlook, you will be experienced in using software to support administrative activities and be comfortable learning new systems and processes.

Shift Pattern
Whilst you complete your training period you will work 36 hours each week Monday – Friday. Once training is completed you will move onto one of the shifts and receive the associated shift allowance (14%). There are 2 shift teams and you will work the following shift pattern over a 2 week period:
Week 1:
Monday and Tuesday = 08:00 – 19:00 (10.5 hours with 30 minute break)
Wednesday, Thursday and Friday = OFF
Saturday = 08:00 – 18:30 (10 hours)
Sunday = 08:00 – 18:00 (9.5 hours)
Week 2:
Monday and Tuesday = OFF
Wednesday, Thursday and Friday = 08:00 – 19:00 (10.5 hours)
Saturday and Sunday = OFF
