Job description

Astroscale UK & Europe have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Import/Export Control and Compliance Manager to join our friendly and welcoming team at our state of the art offices in Harwell.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable international trade regulations, including UK, EU, and US export controls, as well as managing the company's import/export activities.

This is a key role that requires a high degree of knowledge, expertise, and attention to detail to ensure the company's continued success.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement import/export compliance policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Manage the company's import/export operations, including overseeing the preparation of import/export documentation, customs clearance, and compliance with all relevant regulations.
  • Provide advice and guidance to the company's various departments on import/export compliance matters, especially for ITAR, EAR or UK Export control and
  • Conduct compliance audits and risk assessments to identify potential areas of non-compliance.
  • Maintain an up-to-date understanding of all applicable import/export regulations.
  • Monitor and track changes to import/export regulations and communicate any relevant changes to the company's various departments.
  • Manage relationships with government agencies, customs brokers, and other third-party service providers.
  • Ensure that all employees are trained on import/export compliance matters and that the company's compliance program is effectively communicated to all relevant stakeholders.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in import/export compliance and operations, preferably in the aerospace/space industry.
  • Thorough knowledge of UK, EU, and US import/export regulations, including ITAR, EAR, and OFAC.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and work effectively under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) or Certified Export Specialist (CES) are highly desirable.
