Introduction
Our client is a large Defence and Aerospace organisation who are looking for an Import and Export Specialist to be responsible for providing guidance to the business on export and import activities.
The ideal candidate with have experience within UK and US Export controls in a Defence/Aerospace company.
This is primarily a remote role, but you may have to go to Essex or Fife a few times per month.
Key responsibilities
- Generating accurately all essential shipping and customs documentation.
- Ensure compliance with UK, US and other countries Export/ Import regulation and licences.
- Act as point of contact for the business on all export/import shipping transactions.
- Undertake import checks for licensing approvals, customs requirements ensuring correct cost prices, commodity codes, delivery and payment terms are being used.
- To provide import clearance instructions to freight providers.
- To undertake the management and maintenance documentation such as: End User Undertakings, F680s, Consignee Undertakings, PV Gradings and Security Aspect Letters, Security Transport Plans, Exhibition Clearances and Crown Exemption.
- Arranging the transport arrangements by sea, air and road.
Skills & experience
- Previous experience in an Import/Export role within a highly regulated environment (ideally Defence/Aerospace).
- Be able to demonstrate a good understanding of the international trade rules applicable to Goods Valuation and the Rules of Origin and Preference Origin.
- Understanding of the UK export licensing system and the handling of Controlled Goods.
- Working knowledge and experience in shipping against Open General Export Licences (OGELs).
- Working knowledge and experience in shipping against Standard Individual Export Licences (SIELs).
- Awareness of the International Traffic in Arms (ITAR) and Export Administration (EAR) regulations.
