The Rates Trading desk is part of the Financial Markets business within Lloyds Bank Corporate Markets (LBCM). We provide LBCM clients' access to a range of Rates products as part of being a Gilt Edged Market Maker (GEMM) covering a variety of assets from government bonds to interest rate derivatives ranging from vanilla products to highly bespoke structured products.
We work collaboratively with sales to provide financial risk management solutions to our clients to support the growth of the business. Our focus is to continue to build out our product offering and client franchise through enhancing our technical architecture and developing stronger relationships with existing and new clients.
The Rates Trading Desk is looking for an Illiquid Assets Trader to build and grow an Illiquids Trading business within our existing rates franchise. You would need experience in originating, restructuring and repackaging rates and inflation linked products from various sources to hedge, trade and sell on to clients. Experience in and a desire to grow a business a business from the ground up will be key to success in this role.
Internal relationships will also be key, working closely with colleagues within Financial Markets as well as the structuring teams, capital markets teams, risk, credit and control functions.
Having an in depth understanding of Financial Markets and a strong knowledge of Rates markets and products with a particular focus on the illiquid asset space is vital. You must also be able to demonstrate detailed knowledge of the regulatory and conduct agenda and role model the right behaviours to achieve client outcomes and our objectives.
The role includes:
- Originating, restructuring, analysing, pricing and booking transactions.
- carry out risk management actions such as hedging, portfolio analysis and scenario analysis.
- liaise with Sales partners in pricing up transactions for customers.
- liaise with Risk / Finance partners with regard to book management, such as analysing risk. reports, assisting in daily p&l calculations etc.
- liaise with structuring teams and various other internal departments for sourcing of assets.
Key capabilities include:
- A strong numerical background is required.
- In depth understanding of Financial Markets with a focus on illiquids.
- Strong knowledge of Rates markets and products.
- Good understanding of market and credit risk management.
- Ability to demonstrate thorough knowledge of the regulatory and conduct agenda.
- Experience of originating, restructuring, pricing, winning and hedging transactions.
- Strong track record to deliver at high standards under time pressure.
- Demonstrate sound judgment and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication skills – written and oral.
- Ability to engage with the wide stakeholder group, achieve common goals, and deliver on the desk strategic goals.
- Ability to establish, support and develop strong working relationships with internal and external clients and business partners.
- Ability to demonstrate a proactive, inquisitive and problem solving attitude as well as analytical thinking.
- Demonstrate commitment, intensity and passion for Lloyds Fixed Income business and its longer term development.
- Flexible approach to business requirements and working hours.
This role is considered Certified under the Senior Manager and Certification Regime as either requiring mandatory qualifications or being deemed as a role capable of providing ‘significant harm’ to customers. Due to this, successful candidates will be subject to enhanced levels of vetting, and required to complete a fitness and propriety attestation on commencement in role. Colleagues performing this role will be required to be complete a fitness and propriety attestation on an annual basis and will also be subject to additional routine criminal and credit checks
