Main Responsibilities
The core focus of the Systems and Equipment Administrator is to ensure that our customers have access to the systems, services and files required to support them to do their best work. Providing a high-quality experience for Service Desk customers, you’ll also be driven to work collaboratively with our external partners including contractors and suppliers.
- Become a system administrator for Active Directory, keeping our networks secure and organised.
- Maintain starters, leavers and job changes whilst reviewing access requirements.
- Ensure that customers have appropriate equipment set-ups for their job role while maintaining the Equipment Asset Register.
- Be a first point of contact for systems and hardware support and action or escalate as appropriate.
- Support the patching and maintenance of our Infrastructure, Security and Network Appliances to maintain Cyber Essentials Plus.
- Assist in route cause analysis during any incident and provide support to resolve underlying problems with input from the wider ICT Team.
- Work with the wider ICT team to provide basic-level customer training and coaching as well as maintaining the ICT knowledge base in line with ITIL Frameworks.
The initial requirement will be for the successful candidate to work from our Edinburgh office five days per week to support initial training and knowledge transfer. We estimate, depending on training progress, that a hybrid arrangement can be considered after the first two weeks in the role.

ESSENTIAL
DESIRABLE
Qualifications and specific training
ITIL, Foundation certificate or equivalent.
Evidence of continuous professional, technical, and personal learning and development.
Degree in Computer Science, IT, IT systems management.
Certified System Administrator or Active Directory practitioner.
Experience
Working Knowledge of Active Directory
Working as system administrator on multiple integrated systems.
Providing first and second line support to diverse range of users.
Working within a customer-focussed internal service provider using ITIL framework
Experience in working within a busy IT environment
Knowledge
Detailed ICT technical skills using a wide range of Microsoft software:
- Microsoft Active Directory
- Microsoft Remote Desktop
- Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, Email
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Suite of applications including Microsoft 365/Azure.
Knowledge of Cyber Security processes and/or Cyber Essentials
Skills
Strong communication skills.
Working knowledge of IT Service Desk with skills in using the Microsoft suite of applications, Microsoft 365, Cisco Meraki.
Setup of Hardware including Mobile(s), Laptops, Surfaces and other hardware when required.
Hands on experience of installing IT hardware and software.
Good organisational skills.
Good time management.

Additional requirements
35 Hours per week part of the Service desk rota providing ICT support Mon – Sun 08:00 – 20:00.
Occasional travel across the whole of Hanover
Occasional physical ICT and workstation setup when required
Participate in 24/7 ICT emergency on-call rota.
Current, preferably clean driving license
