CGC Event Caterers is a long-established caterer with decades of experience in the hospitality industry. We operate at venues of all sizes and have exclusivity at prominent sporting, entertainment and cultural locations across the UK and is also the European Catering Division for ASM Global, the global leader in the delivery of live entertainment and events.
In the UK, we operate at the following venues:
· Eight Yorkshire Racecourses including the world famous York Racecourse
· Yorkshire Event Centre – Harrogate
· The Sun Pavilion – Harrogate
· Lincolnshire Epic Centre – Lincoln
· LNER Community Stadium – York
· Theatre Royal and Concert Hall – Nottingham
POSITION PURPOSE
The role is to assist the Senior Management in leading the team of chefs and in exceeding the food and beverage standards across the division, including all operational, financial and food safety management targets and systems.
Our Business is based around our customer & clients’ needs therefore unsociable hours will be part of this important role.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Providing creative menu & food development across, Hospitality, Banqueting and Retail offers along with annual menu development and tailored bespoke menus with individual and quirky presentation as required for key clients and customers.
· Managing and guiding food production to ensure that the quality is maintained to a very high standard, minimising waste (food and personnel) and in line with our ethos of in-house production methodology.
· Adhering to our Yorkshire when best – local provenance food philosophy.
· Producing monthly rotas for their team to ensure all food business requirements are covered in an effective and cost controlled manner.
· Working with HR to place chefs for racing
· Liaise with Operations team to ensure sufficient kitchen porters and cleaner as required and within budget to maintain kitchen operations and hygiene.
· Ensuring compliance of key legislation and company policies & procedures are adhered to, including but not limited to.
o Allergens
o Food Safety
o Health & Safety
o Calorific
· Delivering all GP targets and reporting on these monthly.
· Work with our HR team to assist with the Training academy around Chef training schemes.
· Involvement in procurement discussions, where appropriate
· Participating as part of project teams, led by/with other Senior Managers, as required
· Providing both strategic and operational guidance, as required
· Keeping abreast of industry developments, best practice, and new ways of working
· Any other relevant duties as assigned by the Senior Management team
· Recruitment of new and replacement team members as and when required in a timely and cost-effective manner.
· Client management when required
PERSON SPECIFICATION
· Minimum 5 years’ experience at a senior level within the food & beverage or hospitality industry at similar venues with a proven track record of success and achievement
· A team leader – lead by example
· Strong communication and relationship leader
· Ability to nature and grow talent within their team
· Proactive, responsive, and positive in all aspects
· A proven ability and experience of success in operations
· Sound knowledge of financial implications and margin control
· Excellent organisational and practical skills
· The ability to deal with conflicting demands and meet tight deadlines
· IT Literate with a good understanding of Excel

GENERAL INFORMATION
The requirements of the business are such that it is necessary to have a flexible approach and therefore some business-related travel to be able to work at our venues and operational sites may be required.
Due to the nature of the role there will be a requirement to work unsociable hours, including evenings and weekends.
