What is the purpose of this role?
The purpose of the ICA (Instrument, Control and Automation) Technician is to inspect and maintain key equipment at our Sewage treatment works. As a key member of the team, you will diagnose faults, repair and modify installations as appropriate. You will use your knowledge to work on PLC’s, automated machinery, SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) and telemetry systems in a safe, efficient and timely manner with minimal supervision.
What will this role involve?
To carry out instrument, control and automation maintenance on a variety of Sewage Treatment Works. Including planned maintenance and defect maintenance on PLC’s, HMI’s, instruments and drive units.
To install and modify plant and equipment, including liaison and supervision of contractors and suppliers where necessary.
To provide specialist technical advice where appropriate with up-to-date technical knowledge and provide training support for technical trainees.
What skills are we looking for?
The successful applicant will have completed an electrical/electronic approved apprenticeship. Ideally have completed a BTEC/NVQ in an electrical discipline (HNC would be preferable) and a good practical understanding of automated plant and their respective control systems.
You will have good time management and be able to work with minimum supervision under your own initiative, optimising process awareness and be knowledgeable of Health and Safety issues relevant to the industry.
Due to the nature of the role, you will need a valid driving licence
