Main purpose of the job: Whilst embracing the unique ethos of Grasmere Gingerbread®, to implement and process all human resources procedures of this historic, 169-year-old 4th generation family business. Work towards national workplace accreditation.

Days & Hours of Work: 1 – 2 days a week, can be half day(s) but variable days to enable personal contact with all staff members who work a standard weekly shift pattern. Must be flexible to work extra hours when required at busy times, i.e. recruitment drives.

Full Day: 9am – 5.30pm (1 hour for lunch). Half days (flexible).

Place of Work: This is an on-site position within the Administration Office in Grasmere.

Salary: £15- £17 an hour.

Ultimately responsible to: The Directors.

Reporting directly to: Operations Manager.

Liaison with: The Finance Manager (currently responsible for HR), and all members of staff.

External Liaison: The company employment solicitor and relevant suppliers and providers.

Status of Position: Due to the expansion of Grasmere Gingerbread®, and subsequent additional roles, the business now requires a dedicated Human Resources Manager. Going forward our current finance & HR manager will focus solely on the pecuniary requirements of Grasmere Gingerbread®.

Main Tasks of the job:

· Initiate recruitment campaigns, create adverts (all formats, mediums),
communicate with applicants (written, verbal), liaise with managers to arrange
interviews, and close applications;

· Implement strategic HR objectives for the business to gain employer accreditation;

· Staff inductions following company procedures;

· Programme and administer staff reviews;

· Process and administer attendance, staff holidays, annual leave, sick leave;

· Monitor staff welfare;

· Facilitate legal health and safety regulations;

· Process formal employment terms and conditions;

· Staff uniforms;

· Staff training; co-ordinate in-house training internally and with external providers;

· Maintain personnel files;

· Co-ordinate staff meetings and take minutes;

· Administer staff development programmes;

· Publish staff communications;

· Staff events.

Person Specification: Respecting and working wholly within the culture of Grasmere Gingerbread®, the successful candidate must be personable, approachable and be able to listen effectively within the family orientated culture of the business. Each member of staff is valued personally: no one is a number at Grasmere Gingerbread®. The role requires an awareness of all sectors of the business for inducting and supporting new members of staff.

Skills required:

· Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (HR) Level 5 and/or
relevant experience;

· Outstanding communication skills (verbal, written);

· Fully competent in IT skills, administration procedures;

· Highly organised, self-motivated with excellent time management skills.
