Job description

Excited to be part of one of the Hospitality Industry's Best Employers? We are extremely proud to have been highlighted as one of the Top 14 Best Places to Work in Hospitality. So, if you're looking for an inspiring journey where no two days are the same, with a lot of ongoing growth and opportunities, come and join our Richmond Hill Hotel team. We’ve got a fantastic opportunity for a talented and up and coming people professional to join our team as a HR Assistant.

We’re an award- winning independent, destination hotel, restaurant & bar pouring experience, imagination, and heart into delivering hill-top magic for our guests. Our team is at the heart of everything we achieve here at Richmond Hill Hotel - our overwhelmingly positive reviews are testament to the hard work our teams put in. We’re committed to creating a great place for our teams to work and we’re delighted to have twice been finalists for ‘Employer of the Year’ and won a People award for our ‘Team Engagement’ amongst other accolades.

As HR Assistant, this hands-on role, is integral to our People function – in fact your role will be critical in keeping the Richmond Hill a fantastic place to work. On a day-to-day basis, you will be spending a large part of your time providing a proactive support service to all managers and team members on property – perhaps guiding managers with advice or supporting a team member who reaches out – however your role will span all aspects of the employee journey including the team’s induction, wellbeing, engagement, dealing with ER matters, resourcing talent, ensuring H & S training compliance, as well as producing management information. We have heaps of exciting engagement and culture defining projects that you will be instrumental in evolving and rolling out too! This is certainly a role where if you are looking for the opportunity to develop and get stuck in, you’ll be in the right place - we just need you to bring the desire to make an impact!

What's in it for you?
Exceptional people deserve to be recognised and rewarded, and in addition to an industry leading salary, you can expect an extensive benefits package including:
  • Access to hundreds of online freebies & discounts
  • Free health cashback plan for you and your family
  • Salary sacrifice schemes to help you buy a bike, laptop or gym membership
  • Use of our onsite gym
  • Bespoke career development through internal and external training schemes
  • 28 days annual leave (including bank holidays) increasing by 1 day per complete year of service to a maximum of 33 days.
  • Discounted use of hotel facilities including Restaurant and Lounge
  • Hotel Monthly and Annual Awards
  • Refer a friend scheme, with up to £500 cash incentive
  • Departmental and whole hotel team building and social events
(And evolving this, to be even better, is one of the above projects!)

Is this role right for me?
We’re looking for enthusiastic and talented individuals with a passion for hospitality. We embrace our core values of Diversity, Innovation and Generosity in everything we do, and we’re looking for originality, proactive thinking and understanding! It’s essential you are the right fit for our team so most importantly we need someone who cares about people (simple but true!) and has a genuine desire to want to help and support our teams!
Ideally, you will have a couple of years’ experience working in a HR function but are now ready for your next step – but you may also be recent HR graduate with some HR and hospitality experience!

There’s some non-negotiables! You’ll:
  • have buckets of passion, team spirit, creativity and a genuine desire to make a difference for our teams.
  • be a real people person and demonstrate confidence to build relationships within the hotel but also remotely with the rest of the people team
  • have previous hospitality experience – this is key – you need to “get” our business!
  • have a curious mindset, drive and a high aptitude for picking up information; the nature of this role will involve a variety of tasks on a day-to-day basis and so the ability to switch between a variable workload is key
  • be naturally accurate with high attention to detail, essentially, we need to make sure we are getting the basics right for our teams.
  • have strong organisational skills and proven IT skills – with the ability to pull reports and analyse employee data
  • have a basic understanding of employment relations (the legal stuff!)

What next?
If you are keen to develop your career with a progressive, people focused independent spirited business and this is a challenge that excites you, then apply now! This IS a step worth taking! Don’t let the exciting opportunity to be part of our #exceptionalteam, pass you by! Send in your application, we can’t wait to see it!
