We are seeking an experienced HR Advisor to join us to support with the efficient delivery of HR services. You will play a pivotal role in providing a range of generalist HR support and guidance across the organisation. Building and maintaining strong working relationships is essential in this role with the ability to remain calm under pressure and keep a positive attitude.

Relate is the leading relationships charity and the Relate Federation is the largest provider of relationship support in England and Wales. Offering counselling, information, mediation and support to individuals, couples and families, we work with people of all backgrounds and sexualities at all stages of life. Over the last year our counselling services have been delivered exclusively via video and phone. We also provide expert training for relationship support practitioners.

The Relate Federation comprises the national charity Relate – which delivers services in 15 geographical areas – and 24 local federated Relate Centres, which are independent registered charities. Led by the national charity, we all work together under the Relate brand to ensure consistently high-quality services for those we exist to support. In total, around 1,200 practitioners work across our Federation.
Key activities
- Provide clear employment advice and guidance to all employees and managers on absence management, performance management, probationary reviews, capability reviews and performance improvement plans, contractual and policy queries
- Assume overall responsibility for Maintenance of the HR System, including employee change of details and set up of new users and admin levels.
- Carry out daily, weekly and monthly HR system tasks.
- Ensure all employee information is accurate, up to date and GDPR compliant.
- Analyse trends and performance data to provide high level HR reporting/proposals to HR Manager.
- Manage, monitor and record probationary reviews.
- Provide cover for HR Administrator to ensure contracts, offer letters and variations are completed.
- Manage exit interview process.
- Create Job descriptions (including standardising).
- General HR administration.
- Any other duties and responsibilities as required from time to time
Key skills and competencies
Essential
- CIPD L5 would be beneficial but not essential.
- At least 3 years of generalist HR experience.
- Excellent up to date knowledge of employment and case law.
- HR Systems experience (Cezanne) preferred.
- Strong organisation and planning skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent knowledge and application of Microsoft platforms such as Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Word.
- The ability to work independently and on own initiative.
- A creative but pragmatic approach to problem solving.
- The ability to manage their own workload and prioritise under pressure.
- Excellent attention to detail / right first time mind-set.
- A strong understanding of the confidential nature of HR

Salary £25,750 per annum
Duration Permanent
Hours 35 hours per week
Location Home Based
Annual leave For a full-time appointment: 25 days per annum, plus public holidays and
the period between 27 December and 1 January (three days)
