Our network of more than 1,000 laboratories and offices in more than 100 countries, delivers innovative and bespoke Assurance, Testing, Inspection and Certification solutions for our customer’s operations and supply chains.
Due to continued growth, we now have an exciting opportunity for a HSE Supervisor to join our dedicated team based in Derby. You will provide Health, Safety and Environmental expertise across our NDT Services business unit.
The Role:
- Be the competent person and point of contact for Health, Safety, Environmental and Sustainability issues at 2x Derby NDT Services sites and the Site Services team
- Maintain and implement the documented management system and ensure that HSE requirements described in the system and all applicable standards are adhered to
- Responsible for Health, Safety and Environmental aspects over a range of risk profiles including; machine shop, chemistry laboratory, non-destructive testing processes, radiography, work at height and confined spaces
- Promote a positive safety culture at NDT Services sites
- Conduct root cause analysis and accident investigations. Additionally, ensure all corrective actions are identified, implemented, monitored, and reviewed
- Lead ISO/IEC 14001:2015 & ISO/IEC 45001:2018 audits, and carry out internal audits
- Create and manage action plans to identify, address and prevent reoccurrence of Health, Safety and Environmental issues
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations with a key focus on; Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974, Ionising Radiation Regulations 2017, Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER), Control of Substances Hazardous to Health 2002 (COSHH), Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER)
- Carry out a variety of risk assessments with a focus on collaboration with stakeholders
- Produce and present regular HSE updates to the NDT Services management team on a weekly, quarterly and annual basis
- Manage exposure monitoring for hazardous substances and plan annual health surveillance for designated workers
- Manage and maintain department health and safety training plans
- Carry out site inductions for new members of staff
- Complete risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) to support technicians working at client sites around the UK
- Lead and manage projects in support of Intertek’s goal of Net Zero emissions by 2050
- A strong focus on continuous improvement
Key Requirements:
- Qualified to NEBOSH General Certificate in Health and Safety level or above
- Qualified to IEMA Foundation Certificate in Environmental Management or above
- Knowledge and experience of ISO 14001:2015 & ISO45001:2018
- Stakeholder management skills with an ability to influence people at all levels – shop floor to senior management
- Training in the management of work at height and confined spaces is desirable
- Knowledge of Non-Destructive Testing would be beneficial
- Strong IT skills
