Position Overview
The Illinois Department on Aging seeks a human resource professional to help us attract and retain a dynamic team which is passionate about serving and advocating for older Illinoisans and their caregivers. The selected candidate will serve the State of Illinois, The Department on Aging, and the Human Resources Office by ensuring our positions are organized, classified, posted, interviewed, and hired in a timely and professional manner. Job Responsibilities
- Serves as a Hiring Specialist for the Agency.
- Performs as a lead worker in the Office of Human Resources.
- Develops, reviews, and clarifies duties and responsibilities of present and prospective code positions to determine proper placement of positions in accordance with the Position Classification Plan and Pay Plan.
- Reviews and approves as necessary, Human Resources related transactions for submission to Central Management Services.
- Collaborates with HR Administrator to prepare and present to the Director and Deputy Director’s recommendations related to staffing and organization.
- Acts as a subject matter expert to agency employees regarding protocol for required personnel actions in compliance with IDoA policies, collective bargaining agreements, DCMS Rules, Classification and Pay Plan.
- Attends job fairs and helps potential candidates in following the State of IL Hiring process.
- Performs other duties, as required, or assigned, which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college.
- Requires two years of professional human resources experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prefers one year of experience working with classifications or job analysis.
- Prefers one year of experience working in hiring or recruitment.
- Prefers one year of experience working with personnel transactions.
Conditions of Employment
- Requires ability to pass a criminal background check.
- Requires minimal in-state travel.
