JOB PURPOSE:
To assist in the administration of various human resource services and functions within Caterpillar Peterlee. The role is onsite office based.
JOB DUTIES:
As part of the business unit HR team, the job functions could include some or all of the following:
- New employee inductions.
- Liaise with Regional and Corporate Human Resources.
- Interact with and counsel all levels of management, salaried & hourly employees, to assist and resolve a wide variety of personnel, wage/salary and benefit related issues.
- Long service anniversary awards and recognition process management
- Dealing with Employee Relations Issues, investigations, grievance, disciplinary.
- Communications of human resources related material.
- Work closely with managers and Occupation Health to monitor and manage employee absence
- Learning initiatives including supporting and attending STEM and Business Ambassador events.
- Track and report on metrics and measurements for human resources functions and provide data to management.
- Supporting employees with Payroll/benefit questions
- Time and attendance support for employees and management in both Workday and Kronos
- General Workday support for employees and management
- Process documentation and standard worksheets
- Assisting employees with access and password reset problems
- Assisting employees with Workday benefit changes
- Various other human resources related duties
Develop and recommend solutions to problems of limited scope and complexity. Generally, resolves issues by following departmental guidelines or applying a solution that worked in the past. Can change different parts of the standard approach to serve customers best but cannot add or delete procedures without approval. Work under general supervision. Follows established documented processes and procedures. Work is reviewed for soundness of judgment and overall adequacy and accuracy.
BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE:
The position typically requires some knowledge of various areas of human resources including benefits, employment, pay-related practices/process, compensation and company policies and procedures. The position typically requires a college or university degree (or working towards) or equivalent experience. In addition, 1-2 years of human resources job-related experience are typically required. Good human relations and effective communications skills are required to develop a cooperative work relationship with others inside and outside of department. The ability to maintain confidentiality is essential.
