This role
As a Part Qualified Patent Attorney, you will be responsible for supporting our senior attorneys in managing client portfolios and developing patent strategies. You will work closely with clients to understand their inventions, draft patent applications, and prosecute patents before the patent offices worldwide. You will also provide technical and legal advice to clients.
Duties and responsibilities
- Assisting the senior attorneys in drafting patent applications, preparing responses to office actions,
- Participate in EPO opposition and appeal work
- Conduct patentability and freedom-to-operate searches and provide opinions to clients
- Analyse patent landscapes and provide strategic advice to clients
- Communicate with clients to understand their inventions and provide technical and legal advice
- Attend client meetings and provide presentations on patent-related topics
- Work closely with colleagues in different practice areas to provide integrated legal services to clients
- Assist with business development
Required Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- Degree in a Life Sciences discipline, BioTechnology, Biochemistry,Bioinformatics
- 3+ years experience with IP
- Experience in drafting
- EP and UK prosecution, ideally with some involvement in EP opposition/appeals
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality work
