HR & Operations
Based just outside Reading, we are a group of specialist construction companies operating at the top end of our respective sectors, the largest of which – Owlsworth IJP - is a Building Conservation contractor working on prestigious and unique projects for clients that include Historic Royal Palaces, National Trust, English Heritage, Oxford Colleges, plus private clients often on large country estates and the odd windmill and watermill
An office based role combining generalist HR and operational support within the busy Contracts Team supporting 100 personnel across the group, the role is to assist me in what could be a developmental role for the right person to grow into; taking on more responsibility over time within areas such as:
HR
- Run 2 weekly and 2 monthly payrolls for all companies
- Organise payment and compliance for labour only sub-contractors (trades)
- Recruitment in all areas of the business at all levels
- Onboarding of new staff
- Manage redundancy/disciplinary procedures (not many)
- Maintain two HR systems – time and attendance & dedicated HR
- Absence management
- Company benefits’ schemes
- Book training courses
Operational
- First point of contact for all calls and enquiries into Owlsworth IJP
- Maintaining office cover between 08.00 – 17.00 Mon - Fri
- Event management eg Heritage Skills events / social activities
- Organise skills placements for heritage organisations
- Support to Directors, Project Managers and Site Managers
- Support IT & telecoms
Experience and Knowledge
- Some generalist HR experience - payroll useful not essential but must be good with numbers
- Be flexible within a fast moving environment
- Able to prioritise workload continuously
- Accurate and clear communication, know your audience
- Own transport for the odd visit to site and to our satellite yard

Job Type: Full-time
Salary: £25,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
