Role:- HR Officer
Hours of Work:- 8.30 - 5.00pm Monday to Thursday and 8.30 - 4,00pm on a Friday
Package:- £28-32k depending on Experience + free onsite parking, pension, death in service benefit
Other Information:- This position is entirely office based. Due to the reactive nature of business we require an onsite HR presence, so will be unable to consider candidates looking for Hybrid or remote working.

Due to continued growth and £4M recent investment into the Dewsbury site we are creating a new role for a dedicated HR Officer to support our generalist activity. This position is an ideal opportunity for an innovative, driven individual who has the ambition to succeed and progress as a HR professional. Job Overview
The HR Officer will be working in a multi-site environment, based in Dewsbury supporting HR generalist activity for Magma Group. The role will focus on the employee lifecycle from setting up a new starter on HR systems to tracking and supporting sickness absence, and being responsible for giving advice on employee relations matters.
The jobholder will need to build strong internal relationships to work collaboratively with leaders across the UK sites to deliver timely advice and guidance at all times. The postholder will also be on standby to support and cover payroll in the absence of the HR Officer. The company is currently experiencing vast growth across all departments. Responsibilities, Accountabilities and Duties
- Advise and support the workforce in matters of policy, procedure, discipline, grievance, performance and sickness absence management, upskilling leaders with their knowledge of these matters
- Monitor absence across the organisation, ensuring absence records are correct. Highlighting, liaising and supporting leaders when absence trigger points require intervention, formal meetings. Responsible for the process and follow up for obtaining medical advice from GP’s if required.
- Apply best practice in bringing employee relations caseloads to a positive and timely conclusion by supporting managers with investigation and formal meetings acting as the HR facilitator and note taker
- Provide cover and support for payroll transactions and activity during HR Officers absence
- Analyse root causes of employee relation cases analysing trends and patterns. Working proactively with Line
Managers to coach and upskill Line Managers in managing employee relations issues positively, concluding in a timely manner
- Cover and support recruitment activity, deliver onboarding for new starters in absence of Talent Acquisition Partner
- employee initiatives around engagement and health and wellbeing by assessing current benefits and benchmarking against other organisations within the sector
- Support and assist HR department with project work as required
- Support training and development activities, liaise and arrange external training with suitable local providers and assist leaders with producing personal development plans
- Maintain all starter and leaver checklists.
Skills
- Experience as a HR Generalist
- Demonstrate understanding of HR processes
- Preferable CIPD L3 Qualified (and/or studying towards CIPD L5)
- The ability to work to tight deadlines.
- Conversant in IT skills e.g., Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel)
- Great interpersonal and communication skills
- Personal resilience and the capacity to work effectively and stay calm under pressure
- Ability to deal with confidential information and maintain confidentiality is essential
- Good team working skills
- Understanding of Sage for payroll would be advantageous
- Good understanding of employment laws
- Must be able to prioritise and organise own workload with attention and accuracy to detail
