The HR Generalist is responsible for providing comprehensive Human Resources & Recruiting support to the operations teams while ensuring exceptional customer service. This role will focus on executing all activities associated with the day to day task of the People Operations Team. The duties include but are not limited to: the areas of recruitment, retention, learning, and development, performance management, employee policy, and procedure, records management, Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS), and legal compliance. All members of the People Operations team will aid in fostering an environment of trust, respect and promote Sunbasket's culture. This role reports to the Sr. HR Manager, and is required to work onsite 5 days per week in our West Coast Distribution Center, located in Morgan Hill, CA.

Salary Range: 70K-90K, based on experience.

What you'll be doing:

Human Resources Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Handles employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations.
  • Provides day-to-day guidance to the leadership team (e.g., administrative, compliance, training,, disciplinary actions), working closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, increase productivity and retention.
  • Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with the leadership team to develop solutions, programs and policies. Makes data driven decisions.
  • Identifies training needs and individual coaching needs for the Generalist I and Administrator team members.
  • Participates in evaluation and monitoring of training programs to ensure success. Ensures training objectives are met.
  • Oversees and ensures 100% compliance of all leave-of-absence requests and disability paperwork: medical, personal, disability and federal leaves.
  • Effectively interprets FMLA and ADA implications as they relate to leaves of absences/disabilities.
  • Manages post-accident process and ensures timely processing of workers' compensation claims; evaluates accident reports to determine accuracy and completeness and to ensure adequate investigation; ensures Sunbasket remains 100% in compliance with applicable laws and regulations; provides training and guidance to all departments.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.

Recruiting Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the Sr. HR Manager to ensure the distribution center is properly staffed at all times, taking ownership of the recruiting cycle from end to end, understanding the job profiles well enough to pre-screen the resumes, manage interview logistics, conduct interviews, make job offers and provide solid feedback to hiring managers.
  • Determine applicant qualifications by interviewing applicants; analyzing responses; verifying references; comparing qualifications to job requirements.
  • In coordination with the Sr. HR Manager, make hiring decisions based on employee qualifications and business needs.
  • Conduct onboarding and orientation for new hires.

Education and Experience:

  • 4+ years' solid understanding of HR employment-related laws/regulations. Functional HR expertise in the following areas: talent management, employee and manager coaching, HR program and process implementation, learning and development, compensation and recognition, employee engagement, and employee relations.
  • Experience with high-volume recruiting, focused on non-exempt manufacturing, production, administrative or related experience required.
  • Ability to demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, analyze data, and recognize trends and develop recommendations for action.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and prior proven success working cross-functionally with various departments at all levels of the organization.
  • Impeccable ethics and ability to handle confidential matters.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and comfort with HRIS systems (we utilize ADP).
  • Ability to produce policies and procedures that work across operations & tech org.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • PHR a plus.
