The Tollway is a user-fee system – no state or federal tax dollars are used to support maintenance and operations. Operations are funded by toll and concession revenues.

In support of this vision, the HR Generalist is accountable to support a broad continuum of Human Resources accountabilities including but not limited to employee relations, recruitment and onboarding, talent development, performance management, compensation and benefits administration, responding to HR related inquiries and special projects. This position resides within the Administration Department and reports to the Deputy Chief of HR Services. This role has no direct reports and daily tasks and projects are delegated by the Chief of Administration and Deputy Chief of HR Services.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Develops strategic training and development plans to meet business needs.- Manages performance evaluation tracking and implementation.
- Review and update HR and employee related forms to ensure forms are current and compliant, and all company related entities are using current and consistent forms.
- Drive continuous improvement results through training.
- Collaboration with Labor Relations to assist with employee relation matters, working with managers for resolution.
- Assist with updating and maintaining Company Policy Handbook.
- Maintains compliance with IDOT regulations relative to safety sensitive positions and Drug and Alcohol Random quarterly policy requirements.
- Maintain a positive employee relations environment by responding to all employee relations issues and guiding them to successful resolution and leading training for front line leaders.
- Interpret and explain company policy, coach managers and employees as necessary, and ensure that disciplinary action is administered fairly and consistently.
- Build internal talent by driving the creation, implementation, and execution of high-quality development plans which are directly linked to the annual Succession Planning process.
- Collaborate with the Communications dept. to market Administration department’s resources and manage information shared on intranet
- Partners with the management team to drive safety performance and employee accountability for safety throughout the plant.
- Assist in building a high performing culture at Central Administration while simultaneously sustaining its unique culture, as well as implementing other key strategic initiatives.
- Audits internal systems and policies including HRIS, employee files, etc.
- Assumes responsibility for ensuring adherence to compliance practices and policies
Education, Skills and Experience (Required):
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field.- Minimum of five (5) years' work experience in Human Resources or related field.
- Must possess strong training/facilitation skills.
- Ability to maintain highest level of confidentiality.
- Results oriented. Must be self-motivated and a self-starter.
- Must have strong planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Computer proficiency in Windows-based software applications (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Must be able to build relationships quickly and create direction without having positional authority.
- Strong attention to detail, inquisitive mind and not willing to accept information at face value.
- Knowledge of administrative tasks and responsibilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Skills and Experience (Preferred)
- SHRM - CP or PHR certification.
