We're looking for the right person to join the HR team in a job share now that our existing HR Coordinator has reduced her hours, in our friendly, fast-paced Business Team. You will work 0.4 - 0.6 FTE of 36.5 hours per week.
The MRC Epidemiology Unit, a department within the Clinical School, University of Cambridge, studies the genetic and environmental determinants of obesity, type 2 diabetes and related metabolic disorders.
Reporting to the Business and Finance Manager the role holder will manage all recruitment administration for the department, from the initiation of the recruitment process through to the induction of the new joiner. This includes liaising with applicants, arranging interviews, managing all security checks and the certificate of sponsorship process, issuing documentation and making arrangements for the successful induction of new staff members.
Further responsibilities are to provide advice on HR policies, processes and best practice to all staff and to report HR information to line managers and departmental management on a timely basis. The role holder would be the HR contact for all employees within the department for all matters such as annual leave, maternity leave, appraisals, end of fixed term contracts, consultations, exit interviews etc. As an MRC Unit within the University, we have the added complexity of various terms and conditions for our staff so this could be a good learning experience for the right candidate.
You will have excellent organisational skills, great attention to detail and proven communication skills both oral and written, as well as experience in a similar role, a knowledge of employment law, and ideally the University's HR policies and systems. You will also be proficient in the use of MS Office including Excel, Word and Outlook. Flexible, hybrid working is available under our hybrid working policy.
