Job description

HR Coordinator (International)

Grade 5 (£24,285 – £27,929 p.a. depending on experience)

This role will be based on the university campus, with scope for it to be undertaken in a hybrid manner. We are also open to discussing flexible working arrangements.

Are you interested in international employment? Do you have excellent communication skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships?

The University of Leeds is one of the top 135 universities in the world. We have a truly global community, with more than 39,000 students from 170 different countries and over 9,000 staff of 100 different nationalities. Established in 1904, we have a strong tradition of academic excellence, reflected in first-class student education, along with world-leading research that has a real impact around the globe.

As part of the Resourcing and Employment function within HR Specialist Support, you will work in our international team. The international team provides governance, oversight and management of overseas working and of immigration compliance relating to the employment of international staff. We provide specialist advice in our areas of expertise, and we develop clear and documented frameworks and ensure these are applied consistently across the University through constructive working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.

Your remit will include the provision of information and guidance on both staff immigration and overseas working, and you will develop ways of working, guidance and supporting documents for these specialist areas. You will advise on, and help to coordinate, the central management of overseas working arrangements, liaising with employees and colleagues in the HR Service to create a full oversight of individual cases and to ensure that process is followed. You will also have responsibility for the provision of information and guidance on staff immigration matters and will assume the responsibilities of a level 1 user on the UKVI Sponsor Management System.

What we offer in return

  • 26 days holiday plus 16 Bank Holidays/days that the University is closed by custom (including Christmas) – that’s 42 days a year!
  • Generous pension scheme options plus life assurance.
  • Health and Wellbeing: Discounted staff membership options at The Edge, our state-of-the-art Campus gym, with a pool, sauna, climbing wall, cycle circuit, and sports halls.
  • Personal Development: Access to courses run by our Organisational Development & Professional Learning team, and self-development courses including languages, Creative Writing, Wellbeing Therapies and much more.
  • Access to on-site childcare, shopping discounts and travel schemes are also available.
