We have a vacancy for an HR Business Partner to join our team, supporting our business unit in Scotland, based in Kilsyth and with the opportunity to work flexibly in line with our policy.

Your mission

As HR Business Partner, the role will see you partnering with our employees to deliver innovative and sustainable civil engineering projects in the UK. Reporting to the HR Director - Business Partnering of our Civils team within BAM, this is an excellent opportunity for an HR professional to join a forward thinking team. Duties covers the full range of HR activities from strategic advice and mentoring to complex case management, employee relations and talent management.

Role Skills - Technical

  • Interpret project data from our employee engagement tool (Glint), providing feedback to the Sector and creating and implementing action plans to maximise participation and scoring in the survey. This will cover wellbeing, diversity and engagement initiatives in addition to upskilling managers, encouraging use of Perform & Develop Review system and increasing awareness of our competency framework and career opportunities.
  • Specialist support to managers on ER issues, case management, investigating and resolving grievances/disciplinaries and complaints.
  • Working with the business unit leadership team to support resourcing and recruitment to meet current and future workloads
  • Advise managers on pay and reward, using our Compensation & Benefits centre of expertise for specialist guidance. Reviewing decisions to ensure fairness and inclusion and addressing the gender pay gap
  • Working with managers on change programmes; including but not limited to BAM People system, updates, process changes, etc
  • Performance management - working with managers to adopt a performance driven culture and to address poor performance
  • Be commercially aware, understand forms of contract in civil engineering and their impact on operational HR and our wider people strategy
  • Identify and develop talent, career and succession planning, supported by the Perform & Develop approach and being a champion for the process.
  • Working with the Diversity & Inclusion team within BAM, and with the @BAM groups and sector leads, to identify appropriate objectives, create action plans and implement these. This will involve working with our external partners WISE, Equal Approach and other stakeholders.
  • Managing redundancy programmes, and other severance processes, including coaching and upskilling managers in these areas.

  • Working collaboratively, encouraging teamwork, valuing all opinions, sharing best practice across all teams.
