Your role at a glance

Would you like the opportunity to work in a high performing HR Team, supporting senior leaders within the Retail division in Legal and General?

If you are a Senior HR Business Partner that has worked in an agile environment, within aa large matrix organisation, and has strategically partnered at MD level, then this is a fantastic opportunity to join the L&G Retail HR Team.

In this exciting role, you’ll be partnering with members of the Retail Executive and their leadership teams. You’ll lead on strategic HR focus areas providing thought leadership, strategic advice, and operational delivery, collaborating across the Retail Division and Group HR functions.

You’ll be joining a division with a big agenda around culture, where the people priority is the front and centre to our strategy, and you’ll have an excellent opportunity to bring in new skills and ways of thinking. You’ll also have excellent exposure to senior leaders within the division, working both autonomous and collaborative with your wider team to shape your role and the wider people strategy. This is a well-regarded, high performing team, that are friendly and easy to work with. The division is very diverse ranging from starts up’s to established businesses, working across a variety of different markets.

What you'll be doing
  • Provide proactive support and challenge to the leadership teams on all aspects of people, transformational organisation design and development, delivering on the people aspects of the business plan deliverables.
  • Drive the development and implementation of Retail and Group HR and Retail HR Focus Areas, through active participation and by leading people programme projects when appropriate/necessary. Examples for 2023 are Performance Culture and HR Transformation.
  • Provide guidance and cost-effective HR solutions to the business on employee engagement, re-organisations, talent and succession management, learning & development, performance management and resource and reward planning with an inclusion and diversity commitment paramount throughout.
  • Drive and support the organisation wide focus on talent management and development, including the facilitation of the relevant business areas talent and succession planning activity and promotion of internal mobility
  • Support the annual cycle of people activity, including talent review, pay review, strategic workforce planning, performance management and employee engagement activity.
  • Ensure Employee Relations climate is understood within the business area and work closely with Unite, MCF, local reps and managers to champion and demonstrate working in partnership and its benefits.
  • With the support of the Reward team, develop and implement appropriate reward strategies for the relevant business areas.
  • Design and implement HR policies, giving sufficient emphasis that the fair treatment of customers and delivering good outcomes to them is central to our corporate culture
What we're looking for

To be successful in this role you’ll need to be a pro-active and comfortable working at a fast paced. Being a curious and creative person is highly beneficial as you look to seek opportunity to make improvements and introduce new ways of working. Given the level of stakeholder that you will be partnering, your communication skills are key, and you’ll need to be comfortable challenging at senior level, as well as having a high resilience.

Here’s some of the experience that we’d love to see:

  • Experience of leading transformational organisational change with a focus on organisation design, development, talent management and culture change in a unionised environment
  • Influencing senior leadership teams on people and cultural matters and linking this to business strategy.
  • Development of HR strategy, planning and the subsequent implementation
  • Experience of a range of organisational development techniques to drive engagement, business performance and culture change.
  • Demonstrated conceptual, analytical, and strategic thinking abilities.
  • Financial Services industry experience preferable or demonstrable evidence of learning agility between industries in terms of career experience
  • Previous experience and proven success in implementing and working within an agile culture.
