Job description
An opportunity has arisen for an HR Assistant to join a small HR Team in a leading law firm with Investors in People Silver accreditation and ambitions to achieve IIP Gold.
As part of a small team you will deliver all HR services to over 150 staff and managers across multiple locations and disciplines. Maintaining your own areas of responsibility, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills and expertise whilst making a real impact on the working lives of our colleagues. The firm has a leading HR Information System which you will be integral to rolling out to staff and managers.
This role offers a high degree of flexibility and autonomy and will suit the self-motivated. The role offers a great opportunity for candidates looking to take the next step on their career ladder and develop their own specialisms in a small team where they can make a real difference, or for a more experienced HR practitioner looking for a new challenge or to take a step into a new sector.
What you will do:
- Oversee the running of flexible working requests, contract changes and leavers
- Support staff and managers through family leave planning
- Support the HR Manager with ER, performance, conduct and wellbeing matters
- Maintain excellent documentation and records on all matters
Experience, Knowledge and Skills you need:
- Experience of working in a HR/People Function in any sector
- Up to date knowledge of employment law and HR practice
- Effective ICT Skills essential and experience of HR Information systems beneficial
- The ability to quickly and effectively build rapport with a wide range of stakeholders face to face and remotely

Location
Truro ideally although the firm has office locations across Cornwall and West Devon and we are open to discussing remote and hybrid working options. The ability to travel to any office on occasion is a requirement of the role although travel will be infrequent.
Hours
We are flexible and welcome applications from candidates looking for 30 to 35 hours a week spread evenly from Monday to Friday during usual office hours of 9am to 5pm.
