What we’re looking for:
Peabody are looking for a Housing Support Worker to work in our Braintree Hostel, accommodating single homeless and an additional Floating Support service for temporary accommodation.
Whether you have experience paid or unpaid, we are looking for people with life skills and a genuine desire to make a difference in the lives of vulnerable adults. No two days will be the same as you support customers with all aspects of their individual requirements. Knowledge of the benefit system and previous experience or knowledge of supporting people, are desirable but not essential. Good IT skills are essential.
A bit about the role:
Braintree Homeless service provides accommodation for a range of homeless households (vulnerable single adults, families) who require support before moving on into independent living. Tenants are offered help to develop skills such as budgeting, setting up home and seeking employment or training. Staff also provide advice and support to help tenants gain access to other services and organisations. For example, they will help tenants to access health services, social care or specialist services.
Please note there is no personal care involved within this role.
The service has a number of sites all within easy reach of Braintree Town Centre, including a hostel and self-contained properties.
The three week rolling is is rota is subject to sleep-ins usually 2 per week paid (at an additional rate). The shifts are based on a three week rolling rota with regular sleep-ins across seven days. Current shift pattern is based upon a 2pm -11pm + sleep ins, followed by an 8am -3/5pm shift. The role requires the ability to work shifts across Bank Holidays including the Christmas period.
This role will require an Enhanced DBS check.
