At Cheltenham Ladies’ College, we aim to provide a strong support network for every one of our pupils. Around 720 girls board with us in one of our 11 Sixth Form and Junior Boarding Houses and your role will be at the heart of this pastoral care as you lead one of our dedicated professional teams looking after approximately 32 girls in an Annexe for two of our Junior houses. As Houseparent you will make a significant contribution to the welfare and development of the girls in your care; creating an environment where each girl is encouraged to develop individual talents and interests and achieve her potential. You will be required to work particularly closely with the Houseparents of the two junior houses into which your pupils will transfer at aged 13.
With previous substantial experience in pastoral care, you will be an adept communicator with a proven ability to interact and work with others in a sensitive, yet effective way. Leading a small team, experience of managing, motivating and empowering staff is a must, as is the ability to manage change effectively. You will be an experienced and effective decision-maker with highly developed organisational, planning and influencing skills. As a key pastoral leader, you will be passionate about and dedicated to the interests and welfare of young people. Teaching experience is desirable but not essential.
In return, we can offer you a truly inspiring working environment, right in the heart of Regency Cheltenham, described as the cultural centre of the Cotswolds, and an excellent benefits package.
College itself combines a rich heritage with an exciting future. Approximately 885 pupils from 40 countries across the world benefit from the knowledge and expertise gained over the last 170 years. Driven by innovation and challenge, we prepare our girls to achieve their full potential in a complex and changing world.
Closing date for receipt of applications is 17 March 2023. Interviews are expected to take place on Friday 24 March and Tuesday 28 March 2023.
Applications will be considered as they are received, and College reserves the right to appoint at any time in the process.
We welcome female applicants only as this is a girls’ boarding school. This is a genuine occupational requirement in accordance with schedule 9, part 1 of the Equality Act.
