Amazon Children’s Ward and Jungle Assessment Unit are located on the Peterborough City Hospital site for the NWAFT Trust and is a busy and dynamic Paediatric Acute inpatient Ward and New purpose built Paediatric Assessment Unit.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time housekeeper to work within our children's ward at Peterborough Hospital. Our team need someone who is organised, self-motivated and enthusiastic to join us to support the delivery of safe and effective care. You will need to be passionate about working within a team, and have a dynamic and forward thinking approach to service improvement.
The post holder will work as an integral part of the amazon team. They will be responsible for the co-ordination of all patient facilities services in amazon, jungle and rainforest and ensuring a clean, safe and comfortable environment.
The main elements of the role are ensuring the delivery of cleaning, stocking equipment, ordering stores, catering, together with other specified tasks to meet individual patient needs as determined by the sister/charge nurse.
The post holder will be required to work closely with contractors and support service departments. They will monitor quality standards, report deficiencies and appropriate action taken to the nurse in charge.
Your hours of work will be between Mon-Fri excluding bank holidays.

- To identify any problems with general cleanliness and report to the nurse in charge.
- To ensure general and specialist equipment, specific to area of work, are cleaned, stocked, logged and in good working order as per cleaning policy.
- To ensure the department is safe and tidy at all times e.g. remove clutter, tidy notice boards, signage etc.
- To transport equipment, consumables and written information as required.
- To maintain and update paper-based records and information as required.
- To receive and pass on information to others, maintaining confidentiality.
- To be aware of any new food hygiene standards and changes to waste categorisation etc.
- To take responsibility for stock rotation and discarding out-of-date food.
- To ensure all defects are logged, reported, recorded, monitored and closed down as appropriate.
- To carry out regular equipment monitoring in accordance with procedures.
- To clean beds / mattresses after occupancy and make beds as required.
- To ensure the patient’s space is respected.
- Ensure all department daily checks are completed and signed for. Working practices and relationships.
