Objectives
Hotel
The Housekeeping Assistant is a professional that ensures a positive welcoming and overall impression of the property as well as providing the necessary service of ensuring clean and comfortable rooms for guests. The impression created is crucial to the reputation and success of the Hotel.
Therefore, it is essential that he/she is highly thorough and professional in completing their duties to ensure excellence in welcoming, housekeeping, safety, comfort and aesthetics for guests.
Person Specification
Pleasant personality – The employee should have a good presentation of one’s own self when interacting with guests/customers. This reflects the quality of service and standards in a business.
Professional Appearance & Personal Hygiene – The employee should be clean and well presented.
Cooperation – The employee must cooperate with all other employees and management for team work, efficiency and productivity.
Tactful and diplomatic – As an employee you will have to handle guest/customer requests and complaints, which can often be fussy and sometimes unusual. Therefore, as an employee you must be tactful and diplomatic to handle these requests.
Courteous – The employee should be courteous, patient, helpful and interested in the welfare of guests/customers and colleagues.
Right Attitude – The employee should have the right attitude which displays an even temper, courtesy and good humour and optimistic in nature. Follows instructions, ways of working and staff policies as required. Takes pride in a job well done and uses their imitative for optimum performance.
Calm Behaviour – The employee should be able to handle situations with composed personality and humbleness and politeness. Works in an organised fashion with the ability to reprioritises when required.
Flexible – The employee should be able to adapt to new ideas and accept changing situations willingly. Ability to multi task.
Honesty – As dealing with both cash handling and guest belongings it is essential that the employee should have inherent discipline and integrity. In addition, should be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Availability & Punctuality – Ability to work weekends, Bank Holidays, morning/afternoon/evening/ night shifts. Should have respect for time during working hours as this reflects on his/her sincerity/integrity.
Physical ability – The employee should be fit to perform housekeeping functions.
Eye for detail – The employee should have great attention to detail and works well under pressure in a fast-paced environment. The employee should possess power of critical observation to make a flawless room and keen sense to inspect rooms for perfection.
Good memory – The employee should have good memory to remember requirements of the role and needs and wishes of guests/customers.
Excellent Communication Skills – The employee should demonstrate good verbal and communication skills. With the ability to understand and carry out verbal / written instructions independently. Maintains professional working relationships and promotes open lines of communication with management.
