Job description
Wetley Moor Alpacas are looking for an Animal Experience Host to join our team of dedicated staff members on our growing Alpaca Farm in Stoke on Trent.
This job requires a confident and friendly individual with both people and animals to lead our alpaca treks, meet and greet, and alpaca keeper experiences. Each consisting of a health and safety briefing followed by up to 60 minutes of providing a fun, enjoyable experience for groups of adults and children of all ages
Ideally, you will be confident, bubbly, outgoing, love talking to the public and have a theatrical flair.
Not only will you need to ensure the safety of the animals and the public during the experiences, you will also be on hand to provide plenty of information about the animals, and answer any questions that the visitors have so the ability to retain facts and learn scripts is essential.
All of our staff members have a clear dedication to our animals and this true love and passion for the role must be evident. This role would ideally suit someone with an animal background and experience in the tourism industry as our customer service and the care of our animals are our upmost priorities.
The animal experiences take place outdoors, no matter what the weather, come rain, shine and even snow so you will need to be prepared to work in all conditions, and not be afraid of getting dirty! Perfect time keeping, fitness and good health are essential in leading the walks. You must enjoy farm work, be reliable, be able to think on your feet, and above all have a great sense of humour!
There will also be a requirement for you to help with other tasks around the farm, such as mucking out pens, filling haynets, feeding the herd and assisting with husbandry care for all of our animals. This is dependent on the needs of the farm and experiences we have running. For this you must be capable of lifting hay bales, feed bags and carrying out other manual labour tasks.
There is also opportunity to help develop our social media platforms. If you have experience with instagram & TikTok and would be interested in creating content for these this would be a huge bonus.
This job would be ideally suited to someone who is happy working independently and can use initiative to complete tasks. Someone who is quite practically skilled would love this role of general farm maintenance. Experience working on a petting farm or with animals and the public would be preferred but is not essential but a love of all animals is!
Rate of pay would be between £6-12 per hour depending on experience. *you must have availability on Weekdays 10-3 and other flexible hours would be a bonus**
You must be able to travel to and from the farm as we are not on any public transport routes, and be flexible with your availability.
