Salary: Voluntary (unpaid); up to £450 per month towards travel expenses
Hours: Part-time – 2 days (7.5 hours) per week for a minimum of 6 consecutive months and a maximum of 12 months generally; the working patterns are dependent on agreement between the post-holder and supervisor
Location: Baldock Manor Hospital, Hertfordshire
Reports to: Consultant Clinical Psychologist & Head of Therapies

You will work closely with our multidisciplinary team to provide a holistic and person-centred service to our patients who present with a wide range of mental health needs including dementia, neuropsychological and psychiatric conditions.
About Baldock Manor Hospital:
Baldock Manor is our 40-bed mental health hospital in north Hertfordshire, offering a range of specialist services for both men and women across 2 separate wards. Service users are usually referred from other secure placements or from acute wards and are usually detained under the appropriate section of the Mental Health Act 1983 (amended 2007), although some are informal.
Job Purpose & Key Responsibilities:
- To support and enhance the provision of psychological services to the inpatient service users at Baldock Manor Hospital. To assist with clinical work as required by the service, under the direct guidance, close clinical and professional supervision of the Principal Psychologist.
- To assist in the clinically related administration inclusive of contributing to the maintenance and development of the office systems for the psychology department, gathering of data, developing and carrying out audits, collecting statistics, carrying out services evaluation, research and other special projects as required.
- To act as a point of contact for psychology related enquiries and deal with messages and requests efficiently and effectively. To carry out such tasks as photocopying, electronic and paper filing, archiving. To assist with report writing and other paperwork as required.
- To work following clinical guidelines and the policies and procedures of the service, whilst closely supervised and regularly seeking help from clinical/professional supervisor or manager.
- To ensure that all information by own work is recorded accurately as required by Nouvita/Baldock Manor Hospital Policies and Procedures and company values. To maintain the highest standard of clinical record keeping and report writing.
- Where necessary, to attend team meetings aimed at developing and improving service users care. To participate in clinical governance initiatives as agreed by the post holder’s professional manager.
- To perform other duties appropriate to the honorary position which may be required from time to time by the services
Essential:
Qualifications:
- A first-class or Upper-second class Bachelor’s degree with Honors in Psychology that is accredited by the British Psychological Society and confers the Graduate Basis for Registration of the British Psychological Society
Experience:
- Paid or unpaid direct experience with a mental health population.
Knowledge:
- Graduate level knowledge of psychological assessment and psychology
- Graduate level knowledge of psychological research methodology and statistical analysis
- Awareness of racial and cultural diversity issues.
Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) including an ability to communicate sensitive information and work in settings in which the atmosphere may be highly emotive. An ability to interact effectively with staff from all disciplines.
- An ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team, contributing to effective team functioning.
- High standard IT skills, including outlook, word, excel and power point.
- Ability to work independently using own initiative.
