Highways Operative- Wiltshire
We are looking for skilled and experienced Highways Operatives to join our Highway Maintenance team based at our depots in Melksham, Chippenham and Salisbury, working across the Wiltshire area.
Our Highways team keep communities moving. Join us to help construct and maintain Wiltshire Highways. This role is ideal for an experienced and skilled groundworker / construction worker / Roadworker / Highways Operative keen to lead a 2-man team, or to work as part of a 3- or 4-man team delivering small highway maintenance and improvement projects, whilst also willing to assist with the out of hrs winter maintenance and emergency call out activities via a standby rota.
As a Highways Operative you will:
- Work on small highway, footpath, drainage, signing and kerbing projects.
- Operate plant and equipment necessary for the project delivery
- Where appropriate provide direction/supervision of the work to less experienced operatives
- Undertake out of hours emergency call out works
- Undertake out of hrs winter maintenance driver duties
We're looking for:
- Clean driving License
- Extensive groundworks /construction works, preferably in Highways
- Qualifications in the operation of most relevant plant and equipment
- Good communication skills and basic literacy and numeracy
- Ability to undertake a high level of manual work and work outdoors in all weathers
- Willingness to assist in out of hrs Winter Maintenance and Emergency Response duties
- LGV Class C driving license OR capable of LGV Class C training provided by Milestone
- Commitment to Customer Service
Desirable:
- New Roads and Street Works (NRSWA) Operative Accreditation
- CSCS Card
- Highways Operative experience
- Lantra 12 D
- Small tools training
- 360 mini digger – NPORS or CITB
