This is a salaried, exempt position with a 10-month work schedule and base standard hours of 7:30 am to 4:00 pm daily. Salary will be set annually on a performance-based schedule. Teachers will report to the head of school.

Major Function

Instructional position responsible for the educational leadership of scholars in a group or class in an innovative charter school. The educational leader will understand, demonstrate the use of, and implement the academy’s curriculum, scholar instruction, and assessment to maximize educational achievement for all scholars, and work collaboratively to ensure a working and learning climate for all scholars that is safe, secure, and respectful. Implementation of strategies to reach the multiple intelligences of scholars through creative lessons is required during synchronous and asynchronous work.

Teachers’ essential duties and responsibilities are as follows:

  • Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to classical education and the vision, mission, and philosophy of the academy, and consistently developing, fostering, and advancing these concepts in scholars.
  • Demonstrates understanding and mastery of central concepts, tools of inquiry, and structure of the discipline(s) taught, and effectively transmitting this knowledge to scholars, and making the subject matter meaningful to scholars.
  • Develops and maintains a climate and culture of openness, fairness, mutual respect, kindness, support, and inquiry.
  • Engages every scholar in grade level-appropriate learning experiences that promote performance and intellectual and moral development.
  • Listens and interacts effectively with scholars, parents, colleagues, leadership, and community members, respecting diverse perspectives.
  • Demonstrates respect for scholars, colleagues, administrators, and parents.
  • Coordinates office hours for scholars to have full access to you.
  • Coordinates conference hours for parents who need assistance to support their scholars.
  • Models and reinforces good judgment, prudence, virtue, self-discipline, and responsibility.
  • Works effectively with academy leadership and colleagues, parents, and the community to support scholars’ learning and well-being.
  • Provides professional leadership to establish a culture conducive to intellectual and moral development, knowledge acquisition, thinking, analysis, learning, and scholar diversity; involving scholars in the development of a mission and goals that support the academy’s goals and guide classroom decisions and using data effectively for continual improvement.
  • Develops and implements a strategic planning system including course, unit, and lesson plans.
  • Provides opportunities for scholars to demonstrate appropriate progress toward graduation expectations: knowledgeable, lifelong learner; responsible individual; effective communicator; problem solver; collaborative team worker, and self-directed learner.
  • Provides scholars and parents with timely data for improvement in scholar achievement.
  • Uses formal and informal assessment strategies to determine whether scholars have achieved high standards and modifying instructional strategies as needed to maximize achievement.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of how scholars learn and provides learning opportunities that support intellectual, social, and personal development of diverse learners.
  • Establishes and maintains a safe and secure classroom environment ensuring VR session management within your virtual: classrooms, field trips, labs, demonstrations, etc.
  • Manages scholar misconduct promptly and resolves conflict and crises effectively.
  • Promotes both independent and collaborative work ethics.
  • Develops and manages human resources within the classroom by maintaining a professional development plan and engaging in professional development activities, recognizing scholars and parents for contributions to goal achievement.
  • Uses teaching and learning strategies that reflect each scholar’s culture, learning styles, special needs, and socioeconomic background.
  • Seeks resources necessary to achieve classroom and academy goals, such as course materials that match the reading levels of scholars.
  • Uses classroom processes that support effective teaching and learning to promote high scholar achievement, designing lessons to promote all scholars’ being engaged in learning all the time through such strategies as active learning, hands-on application, and teacher-scholar and scholar-scholar conversations about the learning.
  • Uses appropriate technology in teaching and learning processes, record keeping, assessment, evaluation, and performance analysis.
  • Demonstrates positive classroom results and trends.
  • Establishes and maintains social emotional activities for scholars to build relationships with classmates and teachers.
  • Any other duties as assigned.
Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from a fully accredited college or university.
  • Possession of, or eligibility for, a Florida teaching certificate for the level and subject area to be taught.
  • Preferred Florida certification in the elementary education and/or the middle grades.
  • National Board of Certified Teacher certification is desirable.
  • Must be able to teach Biology, Integrated Science, and HOPE Course
  • Charter school experience is desirable.
  • Classical education experience is desirable.
  • Experience in delivering curriculum online or virtual reality experience is desirable.
  • Integrated curriculum (Grades 5-9) licenses.
