An exciting opportunity is available for a healthcare assistant with an interest in sleep to join the Sleep Disorder Centre. The postholder will play an important role in supporting the night shift and day shift, including assisting patients who have stayed overnight. The postholder will also assist in maintaining the smooth running of the day-to-day technician support tasks associated with the support functionality within the Sleep Physiology Team. The post holder will work as part of the Sleep Disorder Centre (SDC) team toward diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders and contribute to and maintain excellent standards of care and clinical practice. The post holder will assist qualified staff in undertaking personal care duties for patients. The post holder will also use appropriate hospital systems to identify, and dispatch correct mask parts in an efficient manner. To keep up to date, accurate records of all interactions with patients. Preparation of the in-patient rooms for pre-scheduled daytime and overnight inpatients is also expected. The post holder will be required to work different shifts including night and twilight patterns. Rated GOOD overall with outstanding care by the CQC. Participate in the reception of patients and relatives in the clinical area and to act courteously to all visitors. At the direction of the sleep staff participate fully in the delivery of planned patient care. Escort patients who do not require constant qualified care. To serve drinks and meals to patients and to give assistance to those patients requiring help. To assist in bed making and the disposal of soiled linen. Check returned equipment for faults and notify supplier to collect. Make up returned machines for reissue. Maintain clinical Infection control cleaning schedule and complete relevant charts, reporting any concerns. Clean returned equipment and disposed of consumables. Document actions taken with devices accordingly. Obtain patient’s weight, height, oxygen saturation and BP in outpatients and inpatients. Prepare inpatient bedrooms for daytime and overnight studies with appropriate equipment assessed independently by post holder. Once trained ECG and spirometry to be performed on patients.
