Working under the direct supervision and direction of a Registered Nurse, who delegates tasks to the post holder, the Healthcare Support Worker will work towards maintaining a cohesive, multidisciplinary team who provide high quality care to patients, whilst ensuring the efficient running of the Outpatients & Pre-assessment Department. Main duties of the job Our Healthcare Support Workers will be expected to: Greet and help patients as necessary when arriving at the Outpatients Department Assist the Doctor by preparing equipment for minor procedures Ensure patients privacy and dignity is maintained at all times, as well as chaperone the medical/clinical staff as necessary Record patient vital signs Carry out venesection and ECG when deemed competent, access any results and ensure these are passed onto the relevant personnel Assist with the moving and handling of patients using the correct aids available Record patient’s height and weight, offering assistance when needed Applicants must be able to demonstrate: Competence in venepuncture - safe and effective practice Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Genuine desire to become a part of our amazing team and provide outstanding care for our patients Ability to work well within a team as well as individually Be hardworking, compassionate and have a passion to care to this client group Previous experience in this role is preferred but you will be provided with clinical training to learn the role and will have daily supervision by trained staff to perform safely, confidently and competently the clinical skills required. Detailed job description and main responsibilities Additional responsibilities will include: Ensure the clinic rooms are kept tidy and clinic trolleys are kept well stocked Ensure all confidential information is stored appropriately at the end of each clinic Assist receptionist with medical records, ensuring correct notes and x-rays are available for all clinics Liaise with the X-ray and Transport departments to ensure patients timely process through the clinic Ensure qualified staff are alerted to the need to restock drugs and assist with ordering as required Cleaning of equipment after use (per cleaning policy) Answering the telephone and relaying messages as required Have a good working knowledge of all computer systems used in the clinic Assist with all other clerical and administrative duties as required Person specification Essential & Desirable Essential criteria 1. Venepuncture competent 2. Previous experience (if any) 3. Good organisation skills 4. Computer literate Desirable criteria 1. Good communication skills 2. Completed Care Certificate 3. Understanding/Knowledge in ECG/Blood pressure 4.
