Job description
Working under the supervision of the GP Partners and strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols, the healthcare assistant will assist the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of patient care. The following are the core responsibilities of the healthcare assistant. However there may be, on occasions, a requirement to carry out other tasks as new initiatives develop. If the Health Care Assistant is not already familiar with the duties below, training will be given.
The main duties of the job include; Phlebotomy Urinalysis Chaperoning Duties ECG Recording Carrying out baseline observations such as pulse oximetry, blood pressure, temperature, pulse rate and record findings accurately B12 Injections New Patient Medicals Flu Vaccinations Support the practice nurse with health promotion programmes Support the practice nurse with the management of chronic disease clinics Ensure clinical waste is removed from clinical areas and sharps bins replaced in accordance with the practice IPC policy Facilitate routine and 24-hour BP monitoring, advising patients accordingly Contraceptive pill checks Assist with coil insertions
