We are growing our services in the North East of England in order to reach more people at the end of life than ever before. This is a great opportunity to join a multi-disciplinary team and develop your skills in Palliative Care

Job title: Healthcare Assistant

Salary: Up to £22,383 pro rata per annum (aligned with AFC Band 2) + enhancements

Hours : Full Time / Part Time / As & When

Contract Type: Permanent

Location: Community Based - Newcastle, Gateshead, South Tyneside

Due to service growth, we are looking to recruit Healthcare Assistants across the following locations:

  • Newcastle
  • Gateshead
  • South Tyneside

What we are looking for:

  • Relevant community experience
  • Continued access to NHS Pension Scheme (subject to eligibility)
  • S/NVQ Level 2/3 qualification or an equivalent certificate/diploma is desirable
  • Emotional strength and the ability to work on your own are crucial, though we will of course provide excellent on-going training and support.

As a Healthcare Assistant you will deliver care and support to people with terminal illnesses whilst also offering vital emotional support for their families.

With experience of End of Life care, you're ready and able to make a real difference. Ours is a one-to-one approach to care, so you're sure to enjoy plenty of meaningful contact with patients and their families - usually in their own homes. Working without close supervision, you'll have the opportunity to use your own initiative in line with the patient's established care plan.

You'll be required to carry out a range of care duties including helping patients meet their hygiene needs, monitoring symptoms, assisting with medications and keeping detailed records and emotional support to the patient and their families.
