Job Overview
We are looking to recruit a Healthcare Assistant to join our school nursing team in supporting the delivery of care to our Pupils. You will be patient, empathetic and promote effective working relationships with colleagues, parents and Pupils alike.
You will carry out observations and basic care needs, screen and escalate to the Nursing team as necessary. You will contribute to projects, PSHE and early health interventions as well as immunisation session support. You will also carry out administration tasks so attention to detail and effective note taking is vitally important.
About You:
You will need to have a level 2 qualification in functional skills Maths and English or equivalent and have the ability to work under your own initiative and as part of a team. You will have the ability to remain calm under pressure and have excellent communication skills (both verbal and written). Safeguarding will be at the heart of everything you do.

Purpose of the job:
To provide general and specific care as specified for children in the Health Centre. To maintain at all times a kind, caring and professional attitude towards children and families as well as colleagues within the clinical setting, taking into consideration dignity, privacy confidentiality, cultural and religious needs.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilties
- Supporting registered nurses in the delivery of nursing care
- To promote effective working relationships with colleagues, respecting their contribution to holistic care being planned and provided.
Key Tasks
- Observations and basic care needs of students
- Screening, escalation, liaison and care record administration
- Venepuncture, chaperone and care plan review
- Support the duty nurse to focus on the clinical nursing responsibilities
- Contribute to projects, PSHE and early health interventions
- Immunisation session support
- Support House with telephone advice and support strategies
- Administration tasks including communication with parents
- Urgent medication collection from pharmacy as needed
