Job description
This vacancy is for a Health Care Assistant to work in our Ophthalmology and ENT (Ear nose and throat) clinics, and the Ophthalmic Day Surgery Unit.
We have clinics on both the Southport and Ormskirk sites, and the Day Surgery takes place at Ormskirk. You will be expected to work in all areas.
The role is Monday to Friday.
We are a friendly team in a busy area and all support and training will be given.
Assisting and supporting the Doctors and nurses in clinics and the ward.
All aspects of care relating to the patients' needs.
The Health Care Support Worker (HCSW) will:
1. Undertake personal care duties for patients within the care setting accessing supervision from registered healthcare practitioner. Personal care refers to delivery of personal hygiene and assisting with feeding, not requiring clinical skills.
2. Record patient’s personal care information in accordance with local and trust policies.
3. Work with all members of the multi-disciplinary team to deliver the Trust’s vision and values providing safe, high quality compassionate, person centred care.
4. Demonstrate ward routine to new employees in own work area, where required.
Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust provides healthcare in hospital and the community to 258,000 people across Southport, Formby and West Lancashire.
Acute care is provided at Southport and Formby District General Hospital and Ormskirk and District General Hospital. This includes adults’ and children’s accident and emergency services, intensive care and a range of medical and surgical specialities. Women’s and children’s services, including maternity, are provided at Ormskirk hospital.
The North West Regional Spinal Injuries Centre at Southport hospital provides specialist care for spinal patients from across the North West, North Wales and the Isle of Man.
The Trust also provides sexual health services for the Metropolitan Borough of Sefton.
