Job description
Up to 37.5 hours per week
We are currently recruiting Healthcare Assistants (HCA’s) to join an established and enthusiastic team. Ward 31 at The James Cook University Hospital is the regional centre for ‘Vascular Surgery and Diabetic Foot Service’ and we have recently expanded our service to provide a wider range of specialist vascular care.
The unit is the arterial centre for Middlesbrough, Stockton-On-Tees, Hartlepool, Darlington and Durham and our patients are a mix of elective and emergency admissions. Our caseload is variable with patients undergoing vascular radiological procedures such as angioplasties and stents, to bypass grafts and amputations. The recent addition of the diabetic foot service is an opportunity to expand our ability to be involved with patients who require vascular interventions but also who often have significant wounds to manage.
The nature of the work means that we very much work as a multi-disciplinary team, from the consultants who are a visible presence involved on a day to day basis, to our fantastic dedicated therapies team that help our patients through an often difficult journey. Each individual staff member matters and we all have a part to play in ensuring that the care our patients receive exceeds their expectations.
The posts provide an exciting opportunities to gain a varied experience on a busy surgical ward, but you will also be supported in participating in learning opportunities which may be informal ‘on the ward’ teaching sessions, supported with more formal training opportunities. Your individual staff development plan will ensure you get the right development opportunities. If you have no experience in health care we would still welcome your application as often true understanding and learning occurs when you are actively working in the role.
This post will close once sufficient applications have been received.
