Job description
Department: Day Surgery Unit
Band 2 pro rata if part-time
Hours: Full time and part time hours available, all MKUH roles will be considered for flexible working
Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust incorporates a dedicated Day Surgery (DSU) and Same Day Admissions Unit (SDAU) and is seeking highly motivated individuals to join our dynamic team in providing, ensuring and improving a high standard of care to all our patients. The Day Surgery Unit cares for adult patients undergoing a wide variety of procedures under different specialities (including but not limited to: Orthopaedics, Opthalmology, Gynaecology, Colorectal, Urology, General Surgery and Pain Management).
The team strive to provide high quality, safe care pre and post operatively, adopting a nurse-led discharge approach to Day Surgery to the vast majority of our patients meeting given criteria and ensuring that they are informed about their post-operative care at home.
Experience in care is desirable but not essential as training will be provided. You must have strong organisation, IT and time management skills and be able to be innovative with a zest for new challenges as the demands of the Unit grows and develops new services and pathways.
Good communication skills are also essential as the role involves liaising with members of the multi-disciplinary teams within hospital.
The role of the HCA is to assist the nursing team in the delivery of safe effective care to the patient.
If you would like to gain some experience in a healthcare environment, and enjoy working in a busy and rewarding environment, then this could be the job for you!
The unit is currently open 0700-2000 Monday to Friday but this may change as the unit grows in the future. You will be required to work shifts within these times.
