In the Community Division we have an exciting opportunity for Health Care Assistants to join our Community Rehab Unit.

The Community Unit delivers safe, high quality care and ensures a positive patient experience within an enabling environment where patients are encouraged to do as much as they can to maintain their independence. You will be supported by the Unit Lead and Nurses in the division to achieve this aim.

If you're compassionate, enthusiastic, have great communication skills and are committed to delivering excellent care, this job could be for you! You are also required to be IT literate.

The Community rehab Unit is a 14 bedded unit where patients receive intensive physiotherapy once they have been discharged from the acute setting. We also have stepdown patients - these patients are looked after when they are deemed medically optimised from the acute hospital and are awaiting ongoing care.

We encourage patients to maintain their independence as much as possible, and work with our unit rehab team to get them up and moving every day. The job consists of assisting with personal care, mobilising and working with the nurse-led team to provide the best care we can. There would also be some light housekeeping duties, assisting with meal times and providing drinks throughout the shift.

With our Age UK activities co-ordinator we aim to provide an enjoyable stay while keeping them safe as they await the next step of their care journey.

Job Purpose

Supporting registered nursing staff in the provision of clinical care to the patients within the medical unit.

  • Some housekeeping tasks e.g. preparation of drinks, breakfasts, cleaning etc.
Job Statement
  • Assist the patient in all activities of daily living, with both direct and indirect supervision as delegated by a registered nurse.
  • Maintain patient comfort, dignity and privacy at all times.
  • Prepare patients drinks, serve meals and provide assistance as required.
  • Assist in the emergency resuscitation of patients, following appropriate training.
  • Escort patients to other areas and departments as per Trust escort protocol.
  • Maintain high standards of care in an environment which promotes equality and sensitivity for all individuals.
