Older People Unit cares for 76 patients with medical needs including those with Parkinson's disease, Dementia, and multiple co-mobilities.

- Supporting the nursing staff on the ward with assessment of patients
- Performing clinical baseline observations
- Assisting in the admission and discharge planning of patients
- Working alongside members of the multidisciplinary team, including different teams i.e. physiotherapist, occupational therapist, SALT, Dietician and report any changes in patients condition
- Recording and documenting episodes of care in accordance with guidelines
- Escorting patients for investigations within and outside the trust.
- Maintaining effective communication within the team and between other teams, patients and relative

The role positively contributes to the managing of ward supporting registered nurses in a provision of care and support ensuring patients receive the highest quality in a safe environment.
Main duties include assisting patients with daily living and independent skills: Helping people to get organised, maintaining hygiene needs, supporting their meal-plan. The role supports patients in aiding communication and providing emotional and behavioural support whilst encouraging patients to be pro active in their care.

- Observations, monitoring and recording patients conditions by taking temperatures, pulse, respiration and weight
