Job description
We are looking for Health Care Assistants to join our friendly team on Writtle which is a 26 bedded Elderly Care Ward. We provide care to our patients 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, 365 days per year.
We are looking for applicants who will demonstrate compassion and empathy in their approach to caring. Applicants should have relevant experience of caring for others, either through previous employment, education and training or voluntary work. You will be an ambassador for our Trust values - Excellent, Compassionate, Respectful.
As a HCA, you will have the opportunity to make a positive difference to the patient experience.
In order to succeed in this role, you will need to be a caring and compassionate person with excellent listening and communication skills. A desire to work with elderly patients is essential.
You will be expected to demonstrate the ability to work calmly in a demanding, pressurised and often busy environment as part of a team striving to deliver the highest possible levels of care. You will need to be able to demonstrate the qualities required to treat our patients with the dignity and respect they have a right to expect.
Part time hours are available.

The role of the Health Care Assistant supports the multi-disciplinary team by giving direct patient care, including (but not limited to) the following:
- Assisting patients with the maintenance of their personal and oral hygiene, including washing/bathing, mouth and dental care, hair-washing, nail care, shaving and dressing/undressing.
- Assisting patients to use toilet facilities and identifying any abnormalities in body waste.
- Assisting patients with mobility, using safe manual handling techniques.
- Assisting patients to eat and drink as per their care plan, identifying, recording and reporting abnormal dietary and fluid intake.
- Measuring and observing the physical characteristics/condition of patients, including temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, peak flows and weight.
