General Description:
This role works as a member of the care team delivering high quality, person centered care in a way that respects the dignity of our residents and promotes independence, freedom of choice and wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist residents with all aspects of personal care and their Activities of Daily Living (ADL) whilst maintaining their privacy and dignity at all times.
- Assist residents in the use of their personal equipment and mobility aids when necessary, ensuring all are well maintained and functional.
- Understand, contribute to and be familiar with the residents’ Person Centered Care Plans and report any changes or updates to the shift lead.
- Complete accurate and effective written records and audits as instructed and in line with the Company’s care policies and procedures.
- Understand and undertake the role of a key worker to nominated residents.
- Assist residents during mealtimes and serve meals and drinks as required.
- Answer the Home Call system promptly and give assistance as required.
- Ensure a safe environment is maintained at all times within the Home, reporting any incidents, accidents, infections or hazards/ faults.
- Undertake mandatory training and identified training in order to be able to carry out the role.
- Attend regular supervision and appraisal meetings.
- Assist with or attend to any other duties which are reasonable to the role.
- Be responsible for maintaining own professional knowledge and competence as well as coaching and encouraging others.
- Ensure the safety and security of the Home i.e. identification of visitors (sign in and out), alarms etc.
- Be responsible for own health and safety and that of colleagues and residents alike.
- Respect confidentiality and work in accordance with the Data Protection Act (1998).
- Promote and ensure the good reputation of the Home and the Company at all times.
