Healthcare Assistant (HCA) Fertility
Location
Complete Fertility Centre , Princess Anne Hospital, Southampton
Relocating to Chandler's Ford in Summer of 2023

Hours Per Week:
Full time Monday to Friday (variable shift patterns)
Key Working Relationships:
Fertility Patients
Consultants, medical, nursing and lab teams.
Other administration teams

Head of Nursing & Governance
Main Purpose and duties:
- Care for fertility patients during all stages of their pathway within Complete Fertility Centre Southampton
- Undertake: phlebotomy, recovery and help with theatre procedures
- Clinical skills specific to fertility
Specific to fertility theatre and recovery
- Making hot drinks and snacks for patients in recovery
- Assisting consultant in Oocyte procedure in theatre
- Preparation of the recovery room
- Preparation of theatre including trolleys using ANTT technique
- Administrative help such as scanning paper documents onto software.
- Assisting in embryo transfer procedure during embryo transfer.
- Collecting patients from waiting room for various procedures.
- Offering reassurance and empathy to fertility patients.
- Assist doctors with hycosy and hysteroscopy procedures.
- Answering telephone enquiries.
- Prepare injection training packs.
- Prepare paper work for following day’s procedures.
- Check consents and blood tests are complete and in date.
- Able to read eQuest results and to request further tests.
- Assist with stock taking and ordering
- Communicate compassionately with patients who may be experiencing difficult outcomes.
- Assist in the nursing office with nurse phone and administrative work
- Develop own knowledge and skills relevant to the HCA role.
- Ensure the RI witnessing process for consumables is completed correctly
- Monitor and maintain health, safety and security of self and others.
- Contribute to the improvement of services.
- Assist with Audits (training provided) allocated to the nursing team
