Head Teacher required for New School – Prestley Wood Academy
from September 2023 or January 2024. (Pay Spine L24-L29 Group 4)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an inspirational and dynamic individual to lead and develop the opening of a new special school at Alconbury Weald with Horizons Education Trust.
We are looking for a skilled and motivated professional, with a passion for improving the life chances and opportunities of children and young people with SEND, to join us from September 2023 or January 2024.
This post is suitable for a serving special school Head Teacher who would like to open a new special school, or an aspiring leader. You will act as Head Teacher designate to prepare to open the new school with support from the CEO.
Prestley Wood Academy will be a friendly and welcoming school for pupils aged 3-19 with an increasingly complex range of learning difficulties associated with Autism, communication and interaction, physical disabilities and medical needs. It will be a large special school that will eventually have a pan of 150 pupils from Alconbury and the surrounding area of Cambridgeshire and is part of Horizons Education Trust.
If you:
· Have the abilities to lead a special school and continue its journey;
· Have strong leadership and management skills either as an existing Head or someone who has extensive Leadership experience in a special school;
· Have the ability to further develop a clear vision of continued excellence with your leadership team, staff, parents, AAG and Trustees;
· Are committed to working with the other special schools in the MAT for Horizons Education Trust and working with our supportive Trustees to develop a centre of excellence.

· Relocation package can be negotiated to support expenses for removals to move into the area. To be discussed at interview.
