We are an intercity train company connecting people and communities across our cities and major towns in the North of England and Scotland. Together we will continue to transform rail travel with faster, easier journeys that offer a step change in services with our fleet of new high-tech trains.

The North is a vibrant place to live and work and here at TransPennine Express our services are helping to keep the country moving. If you want to be involved in something truly transformative, that will have a lasting impact on how we travel, then please join us and help us to take the North further.

Do you share our passion for Customer Service and Operational Delivery? Are you driven to help others achieve their full capability, if so, we may have the role for you!

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Service Delivery function, as our Head of Resource Deployment, based in Manchester.

Reporting to our Head of Service Delivery, this key leadership role will ensure efficient deployment of our frontline operational resources. This includes roster planning and production, tactical resource deployment across our Driver, Conductor and Stations colleagues, delivering the resources required to meet the key company objectives for safety, service, training and operational change.

A highly experienced operator with bespoke negotiating skills to lead engagement with trade union colleagues, and above all, being able to demonstrate a proven track record in people leadership. A sound understanding of the rules and regulations of the operational railway are the fundamental to this role, along with the ability to operate in a demanding fast changing, high pressure environment where the key objective remains consistent and reliable service delivery through improved availability of our front line colleagues. You will provide strong leadership to the 24/7 Centralised Operational Resources Team to ensure the provision of expert analysis, technical guidance, reporting and appropriate support to the frontline management teams. You will be fluent in UK rail IT operating systems, innovating, and leading digital change across our platforms.

You will be accountable for delivering compliant on time rostering across the Transpennine Express network, maximising training delivery, developing relationships with internal customers and stakeholders through leading, inspiring and developing your team. You will ensure company people policies are deployed on a fair and adaptive basis and conduct analysis against our operating standards with particular focus on efficient control of working hours and fatigue management, whilst working collaboratively, adapting your leadership style to ultimately get the best results for our customers.

This is a demanding yet rewarding role, which requires a great deal of flexibility, often working from multiple locations across our network and carries a requirement for operational on call duties.
