Location: Southampton / Remote Working
Working for Southampton Football Club, this is a key position responsible for delivering best in class player identification and recruitment for professional players through an innovative and collaborative recruitment strategy with clear, simple and consistent processes.
What will you be doing?
You will lead on the identification of first team player targets whilst working closely with the Director of Football and First Team Manager to understand the game model and define requirements for each transfer window, along with communicating player requirements clearly and precisely to market leads and producing player dossiers for the transfer committee. You will do this by combining subjective and objective information to make the best possible recommendations on players, whilst working collaboratively within a multi club structure sharing knowledge and information across clubs.
You will need to support the Director of Football with negotiating the financial terms for both incoming and outgoing players along with producing solid documentation to explain the football and financial rationale underpinning each signing. You will create an effective onboarding process for new players and ensure successful transfer of knowledge from the recruitment team to other departments.
You will need to grow an extensive network and build strong relationships within the industry, take part in senior football leadership and strategy meetings, support with the GBE applications process and keep up to date with rule changes. You will also support with squad planning and contract management along with producing medical dossiers to the medical staff for player medicals.
You will also need experience in youth recruitment and will line manage the Head of Youth Recruitment working together to ensure a strong talent pipeline is identified throughout the club. You will also manage the Player Pathways Manager to overlook the loan department and support the player pathways throughout the club and line manage a Recruitment Analyst.

  • Knowledge of the rules and regulations around player transfers
  • Experience of talent ID across multiple leagues and competitions (Europe, South America, etc)
  • High levels of experience of live and video scouting
  • Attention to detail.
