Job description
To be responsible for the Group’s real estate loan financing and support the Head of Funding and DCM in wider debt/loan structuring across the Group and its subsidiaries.
What you'll be doingExternal Loans
- You will be responsible for ensuring that that the Group and its subsidiaries have access to external financing, optimising the cost of funding and the amount of leverage.
- You will advise which lenders to approach for each specific loan raise, assisting in the preparation of information materials for the project ensuring that proposals are communicated to prospective lenders in the clear consistent and transparent manner.
- You will provide Subject Matter Expertise (SME) on structuring on any loan proposals, working closely with the relevant subsidiary. Lead discussions between lenders and relevant subsidiary, summarise proposals received, and make recommendations on best strategy/tactics in order to ensure effective borrowing terms. Lead on the management of the due diligence process for each project from lender selection to financial close.
- Provide strategic input to the business on implications of loan proposal to the operating model of the business, including modelling assumptions
- You will provide Subject Matter Expertise on commercial points within the legal documentation on the project working closely with Group Legal.
- You will identify appropriate opportunities for incorporating ESG into loans as appropriate, in line with strategic company objectives and in collaboration with Group Sustainability.
Internal Funding and Loan Agreements
- You will oversee all intra-group loans and call accounts to ensure that these are appropriately documented, up to date and are priced on an arm-length basis in line with Group policies.
- You will oversee and advise Group entities with obtaining internal loan financing as appropriate.
Bank and lender Relationships
- You will work with the Head of Funding and DCM to maintain and expand L&G’s key bank and lender relationships. Seek out opportunities for Group entities to access lending for the Group and its subsidiaries
Treasury Approval
- You will be co-responsible for approval of Group Treasury’s daily transactions.
- To take the lead in all matters regarding the management of employees, ensuring that management discretion is used in a consistent manner and that the area follows the Group’s policies and procedures including the Partnership Agreement to maximise business performance.
- You will ensure that the appropriate Finance MI, process and systems are in place to provide support Group Treasury so that customers are treated fairly in line with Legal & General’s Customer Experience and TCF policy.
- A relevant post graduate qualification is preferable.
- Strong working knowledge of loan markets/loan syndication
- A minimum of 7 years’ experience in the real-estate lending sector.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent writing skills.
- Strong commercial acumen.
- Strong sense of collective purpose and a team player.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain strong relationships
