WEA have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Procurement and Social Values - Public Sector Procurement Specialist to join our Finance Team on an interim basis for a period of 6 months.

- A salary of £50,718 - £53,387 per annum;
This role is fixed term for 6 months.
As the Head of Procurement and Social Value, you will lead the commissioning, of procurement and contract management frameworks and practices for the WEA, ensuring they support the WEA in achieving the strategic aims and objectives.
You will provide the highest standards of probity and professional excellence, to ensure the WEA complies with the appropriate procurement and contracting regulations, whilst also driving innovation ensuring the WEA continues to be at the forefront of funding contracts and procurement practice nationally. This will include being the strategic lead for the WEA on procurement, social value and contract governance, leading the WEA`s procurement and contract transformation.
You will play a critical part in the WEA`s commitment to raising awareness and the implementation of sustainable procurement practices, contracts and processes in all aspects of WEA`s operations and services - Minimising adverse impact activities may have on the environment.
You will create, develop, implement and embed robust procurement strategies across the Association to align with the WEA goals and objectives. Providing expert, professional advice, guidance, challenge, supporting colleagues on all aspects of procurement as the subject matter expert.
Whilst ensuring the WEA adheres to all relevant procurement legislation as a registered public body.

About you:
Are you an existing Head of Procurement or a Public Sector Procurement Specialist who is immediately available?
Do you have the following knowledge, skills and abilities?
- A degree and/or professional qualification relevant to the role;
- Experience of leading and managing a range of compliant procurement activities, including drafting tender and contract documentation to effectively manage commercial risk;
- Experience of supplier due diligence and auditing to ensure suppliers meet the high ethical standards in line with the vision, mission and values of the WEA;
- Knowledge of social values and experience of implementing social values in tenders (in a procurement context) in complex environments to deliver significant cost or service improvements;
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, including influencing skills and ability to develop business networks and work collaboratively;
- A passion for adult education, and making a difference!
