HEAD OF PLANNING Plymouth, England
Job description
Posted 22.10.22
Are you a Head of Planning or Supply Chain looking for an opportunity to make a significant impact in a prestigious, growing business with an exciting future?
Perched on the edge of the English Channel lies the city of Plymouth, where Princess established their home in 1965. From the outset, their goal has been to meticulously sculpt their yachts around their owners’ enjoyment of them. Such dedication and attention to detail resonates deeply with their Plymouth craftsmen. Over 3,000 people, each possessing a mastery of their skill, fastidiously realise this vision in their shipyards. Through a culture of innovation, Princess’s yachts are not only some of the most technically advanced in the world but also the most beautifully realised.
Embracing modern techniques and world class standards, without detracting from what makes their products and the company great, they continue their journey in transforming their business from being a traditional manufacturer. Aggressive financial investment encompassing marketing and product development, combined with the advancement of the people agenda, is a clear indication of the desire for further growth and performance in the short and long term.
As part of their vision for the future, the Planning strategy is a key priority for the continued success of the company. To that end, they are now looking to appoint an exceptionally talented and progressive Head of Planning.
In this senior, business-critical role you will lead and develop the Planning team across all manufacturing sites within Princess Yachts, creating and implementing the S&OP strategy. You will play an integral part in creating a cohesive build plan to meet production schedule, working closely with Production to implement processes and controls that support one way of working across all boat lines and developing KPI’s to drive performance.
About you
You will be passionate about British manufacturing having gained extensive experience leading Planning/S&OP teams within complex assembly manufacturing sectors. An experienced developer of people, you will have successfully led the development of new systems, processes and working practices, leading teams in making a step change in their aim of Continuous Improvement and achieving world class standards.
As the ideal candidate you will:
- Have strong leadership skills with natural coaching and mentoring qualities.
- Have the gravitas and influencing skills necessary to influence leadership and to drive a culture of continuous improvement.
- Be a strategically minded individual whilst also being comfortable being hands-on within complex data environments.
- Be a professional who conducts themselves in a way which befits the company’s close-knit team culture (able to work effectively with all levels); an effective combination of being enthusiastic, ambitious and result-driven in a warm, personable and collaborative manner.
- Ideally had experience in ERP/MRP implementation.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone to evolve Planning and S&OP to a “best in class” function and help shape the business’s future. To help you succeed you will be supported by an organisation committed to Continuous Improvement and investment.
